Sky Sports News host Jim White has told his TalkSport listeners he ‘understands’ Celtic were locked in a recruitment meeting today and TWO players were on the agenda.

Everton’s James McCarthy and Olympiacos right back Omar Elabdellaouill; the latter being on Celtic’s radar for quite some time.

Omar is a Norweigan International and a first team player for the Greek giants, Celtic’s interest has not been welcomed in any way by the Greek Club who want to keep a hold of their defender. If the meeting has taken place, figures must have been discussed.

With James McCarthy, it’s almost become an inevitability the player will be linked with Celtic at some point during a transfer window. The midfielder is a die hard Celtic fan so there’s always going to be a link there – whether the rumour has legs is another thing.

Speaking on TalkSport Radio, White said: “My understanding is there’s a recruitment meeting today to discuss two signings Brendan Rodgers would like to make.

“One is the Olympiacos full-back Omar Elabdellaoui. He plays international football for Norway.

“Also on the agenda is James McCarthy, a possible loan target from Everton.

“We’ll see how those develop.”

Celtic are in desperate need of a right back with Lustig coming to the end of his current contract. Celtic fans would be more anxious about that position than McCarthy coming in for the most part.
