ALL SEASON pundits and fans have claimed Celtic are defensively unrunnable, but today’s performance shows that this is a lazy argument.

In Celtic’s last five games, Joe Hart and the players in front of him have kept four clean sheets. This, partnered with the fact that Celtic holds the best defence in the league, with the fewest goals conceded, shows a fantastic turnaround from last season.

The players that make up the defence may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Greg Taylor is heavily and unfairly criticised. Despite being a good player, Carl Starfelt is hounded by a section of his fans and the majority of the media week in week out.

But it is hard to argue they are not a good bunch of defenders as a group. The midfield often chips in to help out at the back, and Joe Hart has made impressive saves while being between the sticks.

Postecoglou demands that his players defend well, but he also wants them to be comfortable with the ball at their feet, with much of the play starting at the back.
