KYOGO FURUHASHI has been sidelined since Boxing Day after the injury he was carrying worsened. He has a similar injury as David Turnbull, although the Scotsman picked it up a couple of weeks prior.

Postecoglou has been careful not to put a timeframe on either of their returns but after the match, the manager hinted he would have more players returning soon. [Sky Sports]

“It’s pleasing we are getting some back [players] and hopefully we will get a couple more back in the next 2/3 weeks.”

Ange never revealed who the players he was expecting back were, but all signs point to the star players for the first half of the season.

Injuries were a concern up until the January window, however, after Postecoglou brought more bodies into the club, adding to the depth of the squad, he can now rotate players and replace any that need to drop out for whatever reason.

However, there is no guarantee that Turnbull or Kyogo walk straight back into the team. The midfield is stacked with quality and it is going to be stiff competition.

Daizen Maeda scored again today, meaning Kyogo will have to battle with his fellow countryman for a place in the starting XI. Add Giakoumakis’ performances into the mix and Ange has a selection headache on the horizon.
