Celtic are set to confirm their FIRST signing of the January transfer window as Brendan Rodgers ramps up efforts to improve his squad.
The club have agreed on a deal to bring Manny Perez to Glasgow in January from the USA.
Perez,19, has been playing for North Carolina State University but had recently had a Lennoxtown trial where the defender impressed Brendan Rodgers.
The right-back who has played for his country at under 20 level is a massive prospect within the USA youth set up.
According to RecordSport, the player will officially become a Celtic player on January 1st and will be involved in Celtic’s winter training camp in Dubai.
This may seem like signing for the future, but it’s more for the present than many may believe. With Perez deal wrapped up, there could be a significant changing of the guard between Lustig and the American youngster at right back over the next year. This would allow Lustig to sign a new deal without feeling like he’s surplus to requirements.
The deal is subject to a work permit being obtained.
