Busan lPark’s Kwon Hyeok-kyu is on the verge of becoming a Celtic player, as confirmed by his current manager, Park Jin-seop. [Record Sport]

Celtic have been tracking the midfielder since the initial phase of Ange Postecoglou’s reign, but their interest has intensified following Brendan Rodgers’ comeback to the club.

Alongside Kwon, another South Korean player, Yang Hyun-jun, is also expected to join Celtic. His transfer was publicised by his current club, Gangwon, on Saturday, although Celtic has not yet officially confirmed it.

It’s thought the club might be holding off for a double announcement of South Korean bhoys. When we signed Maeda, Hatate and Ideguchi a few years back, they were all unveiled simultaneously.

Celtic have been working hard behind the scenes to bolster their squad and have been scouring global markets to find some of the best young talents.

Kwon Hyeok Kyu is predominantly a defensive midfielder. At 22, he’s not coming in as a young signing for potential. He will be part of the first-team squad.

  1. We sell a guy for £25M who we bought for £6M.
After paying Benfica we’ve still made £12M.
When is our Board going to learn that you get what you pay for.
I’ve lost count of the litany of players that we’ve bought for £1.5M to £2M and they’ve never contributed.
We needed to replace Jota with another exciting player.
Also we are now back to being glacial in our transfer activity.
    So much for spending big.
For a year and a half we had a glimpse of how a club should be run. It is going to be interesting to see how the fans react to this developing shambles.

  2. Behave we are celtic but we are also in spl who dont deserve the publicity we bring to scotland without us what you do yet asking a top player to play in plastic refs that wont protect our players a k league that does anything to under mind us so get in the real world £40,000 or upwards for a money mad player not fir me ive seen a few pass through our club we can do without them

  3. True we’ve seen those type of players come and go however that isn’t what I’m talking about.
Jota should’ve been replaced by someone with the same price tag.
These guys may be good but we are constantly gambling in this market.
We are buying guys for the same sums that we paid twenty years ago.
    That isn’t good business.
