Celtic could be set to take drastic action to make sure none of their international stars contract the virus when they leave to play for their countries later this month.

There were four call-offs last month for the club which hampered them in games against their city rival’s and AC Milan.

Odsonne Edouard, Nir Bitton and Hatem Elhamed all went down with the virus while Ryan Christie has to isolate as he was near a positive case.

Speaking to the media, Neil Lennon has suggested the club could be set to charter flights in order to keep their players safe when they head out.

They had to bring Vasilis Barkas home on a chartered flight after the player was set to be stranded in Greece due to a strike.

“With Barkas, they were going to shut the airport in Greece because they had a strike over there, and we got him back on a private plane.” Lennon told SunSport.

“It’s not ideal, but it’s something we can look at.

“It’s a big undertaking when you’ve got maybe 15 or 16 players away, but we desperately want to avoid a repeat of what happened the last time.

“It’s a major concern when they go away again.

“We’ve been pretty stringent inside our own bubble and have had no positive tests for a long, long time.”

If Celtic do this, it could limit the risk but with the likes of Ryan Christie’s call off, there’s not much they can do as it happened in the Scotland camp.

If it can keep the majority of players safe then it certainly should be looked at as a worthy exercise.
