Celtic are now looking to the future after Neil Lennon resigned as Celtic boss on Wednesday morning.

There’s going to be a plethora of names lines with the managerial role in the coming weeks and months until the club showed their hand.

Like many of you, I tuned into an early morning Celtic state of mind podcast this morning hosted by top podcaster and Celtic fans Paul John Dykes.

Paul chronicled the season well and was flanked by Anthony Haggerty and Declan McConville.

A very interesting tidbit Paul gave listeners was what he was told back in October about the Celtic manager’s position.

Paul said back in October, he was told two men had been sounded out about the Celtic job; Alex Neil and Roberto Martinez.

The podcaster admitted those comments he made back then have been subject to derision by Celtic fans and opposition fans when it comes to the Roberto Martinez interest.

“I heard rumblings way back in October, two managers that have been sounded out were Alex Neil at Preston and Roberto Martinez and Shaun Maloney” Paul told the live ACSOM stream (49mins)

While it seems like a pipe dream more than reality, I would be annoyed if Celtic hadn’t or didn’t ask the question. Roberto is likely to come back into club football management after this summers Euros — so why not ask the question? Shaun Maloney is his right hand man at Belgium, could he nudge the manager in the direction of Glasgow?

If you’re like me, ACSOM has become essential listening/viewing this season and Paul is always very well spoken and truthful when he Howard the show. They’re back today with the daily bulletin at 12:30pm.
