Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor has admitted his huge disappointment at not only yesterday’s result but the season as a whole and blowing the chance of potentially creating history.

As reported by the Glasgow Times, McGregor who lead the side out as vice-captain in an extremely poor display for the 2-1 loss to St Mirren at Celtic Park, has spoken honestly several times in the media about his disappointment and was once again wheeled out for the media to do so again after the game on Saturday.

“It’s hugely disappointing, it’s all you think about,” McGregor said.

“You’re here to win, and when that’s been instilled in you from such a young age when you don’t win it’s so hard to take.

“We keep trying to find the reasons why, and keep trying to fix it. Sometimes it just doesn’t click. It hurts, but the only way to come out of that a better player and a better person is to keep working to turn it around and being positive.

“I think we know [the chance to win 10-in-a-row]’s there. Coming into the season there was a big push in the media and you can look at it two ways.

“With the full stadium that is obviously going to help you in terms of pushing, but if things aren’t going well, then the full stadiums can be of detriment as well.”

Going into the 20/21 season, I’m sure no one ever expected a capitulation to this level finding ourselves completely out the title race by January.

Seeing the regression in players such as McGregor has made things a lot worse because we have seen in recent years how much they are capable of.

We are at the stage where the result against St Mirren doesn’t come as a surprise anymore, which is absolutely crazy. That is what is extremely disappointment and some players and staff may realise that. But clearly not enough to admit that change is needed now.
