Former Celtic and current Sky Sports pundit, Dave Provan has hit out at Peter Lawwell after announcing he would be departing at the end of this season.

Writing in his Sun Sport column, Provan said the buck stops with Lawwell, for the sides failed to capitalise on such an incredible opportunity to go on and dominate Scottish Football in a row.

“Rangers’ liquidation allowed Celts to hoover up more titles and more cash. They had a free pass to Champions League millions every season.

“No Celtic board in history ever had it so good. Yet somehow they’ve allowed Rangers up off the floor. The buck stops with Lawwell.

“Despite fawning media coverage, his legacy is not a pretty sight. For starters, his announcement leaves Lennon twisting in the wind.

“Lenny deserves better than to find himself warming the seat. With the title now gone he should be paid up now.”

Over the years that Peter Lawwell has been at this club, he has overseen some incredible success domestically. At the same time though man could argue that he has overseen one of the clubs biggest downfalls in recent years.

Fans have been calling for this change for years, the news of Lawwell leaving was a rare positive at the time. But there is still so much time and work to be one go improve us going forward as a club.

The next few months are messing in whatever happens, which could end up going either way.
