NEIL LENNON has revealed Kristoffer Ajer had to come off during the 4-1 win at Fir Park on Sunday because he reinjured his groin which he suffered against Lille ten days ago.

Supporters were unsure about the timeframe for Ajer’s return to the team, then late last night, the word got out Kris was ok for Motherwell. We seemed to be jinxed when it comes to fit defenders.

It allowed Neil Lennon to take Shane Duffy out of the limelight and put him on the bench after a string of high profile mistakes for the club.

Ajer did well on the day but it looks like he was brought back a bit too soon with the Norwegian reinjuring himself.

“Duffy needed a rest,”Lennon told the Glasgow Times “He has played a lot of games. Unfortunately we lost Kris again with the groin problem and Shane came on and did a fine job for us. It was a just a little bit of rotation.”

It’s unclear whether Ajer will even join up with Norway for the international break after being called up last week.

If he’s injured, Celtic will not want to see the defender head out and possibly catch the virus. It’s imperative Celtic closely monitor their players this international break and make sure they make the correct decision for themselves and the club.
