KRISTOFFER AJER has responded to comments his international boss made about his progression at Celtic after Lars Lagerback suggested he could be improving quicker if he left Celtic for a better league.

The Norweigan is currently on international duty with his country after a top breakthrough season with Celtic but that hasn’t satisfied Lagerback who flippantly made the comment.

Ajer dismissed the Lagerback’s claims and made it clear he was at Celtic to continue his progression and help bring success under Neil Lennon.

Ajer has had a top season, he has shown talent and aggression in equal measure and a willingness to do what it takes for the Celtic cause. Asked about his immediate future, the defender was clear:

“I have a three-year deal at Celtic and I am one of the world’s biggest clubs. I love to play there.” Ajer explained to RecordSport. “That’s the only thing I am focusing on.

“It’s a really exciting time. Neil Lennon has come in and done a very good job. We won the Treble.

“It’s fantastic to be in Glasgow. I am looking forward to next season.

Ajer is likely to be one of Neil Lennon’s first choice centre backs next term with the other position very much up for grabs. Jozo Simunovic holds it at the moment but it all depends on who comes in this summer.
