CELTIC have reportedly shot down not one but two rumours which emerged int he last 24 hours with regards to player recruitment.

Phil Jagielka announced he would not be re-signing with Everton over the summer and he would now be a free agent. This put social media into overdrive with many suggesting Celtic were going to try and sign the free agent.

Within hours of the rumour circulating it had been shot down by RecordSport who obviously have somebodies ear at Celtic Park. They wrote:

“Reports emerged this afternoon saying Neil Lennon was keen on bringing the 36-year-old up to Scotland after he was released by Everton this summer.

“But Record Sport understands Celtic are not interested in the centre-back.

“There were also reports the Scottish champions were after Huddersfield Town’s Mathias Jørgensen, but those claims were also shot down.”

Putting a move for the veteran defender to bed and also Huddersfield man Mathias Jørgenson.

It’s becoming silly season at the moment. It has gone from who will be Celtic manager to every single free agent or young out of contract player in England being linked with the club. Jagielka was on £50kpw (according to WhatFootballersEarn) at Everton and even at 36, even half that wage wouldn’t entice Celtic to make a move for the Englishman.

It’s not been the best week for Celtic with regards to transfer news – a leaked document from a transfer meeting hit social media referencing targets and players contracts.
