NEIL LENNON has told Celtic fans of his desire to make the most of academy players over the next few years as he builds for the future.

While the Irishman recognises he needs to go out into the market in search of talent, he also knows he has some great options at Lennoxtown.

Towards the end of the season you seen Neil put more trust in Mikey Johnstone with varying results, Ewan Henderson got a final day cameo as well as Karamoko Dembele.

These are bhoys who are all hungry to make the step up and have now had a taste of the big time. It will be a big year for Mikey especially but even Ewan, Karamoko and even Armstrong Oko-Flex will be chapping at the door for a start.

Neil has to strike the right balance and he sounds like that’s exactly what he wants to do.

“It’s important for me as a manager to bring players through from the academy. It’s vital we develop our own.” Lennon told Evening Times.

Lennon maybe didn’t trust as many young players as he should’ve during his first spell at the club. A sign of maturity.
