AARON MOOY was announced as part of Australia’s World Cup squad earlier this week , but his call-up came as no surprise to anyone.

The Aussie has been consistently playing for Celtic, starting the majority of matches since Callum McGregor’s injury. He’s looked good at times, especially when he got up to speed and regained full fitness.

Mooy joined in the summer, signing a one-year deal with the option to extend by a year. Ange hasn’t spoken about his plans with Aaron beyond summer, but judging by the way things are going, you’d imagine he’ll be at Celtic next season.

Speaking after his call-up, Mooy admitted he’s enjoyed his time at Celtic so far and is remaining focussed on club football until after the Ross County match. He said; [The Scotsman]

“The World Cup is obviously always in the back of your mind, but I don’t think about it too much. I have a job to do every three days with Celtic. So I try to think about every game and doing my best for the support.

“The supporters expect good play and wins in every game. It is a good place to be to improve and to be ready. I am just enjoying the experience, just soaking it all in, trying to play as much as I can.”

There’s a strong Scottish representation in Graham Arnold’s squad, with seven SPFL players jetting off to Qatar to represent Australia in a week’s time.
