Reports over the past 24 hours have claimed Celtic are still keen on bringing Carl Starfelt to the club while simultaneously chasing French full-back Brandon Soppy.

Celtic have done the one thing they couldn’t afford to do; get off to a very slow start in recruitment.

Fans want to see quick and decisive action once targets have been identified and the manager has signed off on it. Instead, we’re getting the usual transfer rumour mill with no deals being closed in time for players to come in and settle before the real action begins.

It was reported by Fabrizio Romano that Celtic had cooled their interest on Rubin Kazan defender Carl Starfelt until they are certain they know what’s happening with Kristoffer Ajer’s future. However, RecordSport claim Celtic are still keen on the centre-back and they’re also chasing Brandon Soppy in what would be a quick double swoop if they could get both over the line.

Celtic have a Champions League qualifier next week; it’s safe to say anybody who comes in now will not be part of that squad. The SPFL kicks off at the end of July, it’s important we have players primed and ready to go for the start of the campaign.

Can the club get these deals over the line.

RecordSport claim Soppy is available from Rennes for around £4m, and Celtic believe they can get Carl Starfelt for a similar price. Spending £8m on two first team ready players should be seen as a good investment.

  1. I would love to see the deals happen that way we would know we seriously.mean business, come on Celtic give Ange the tools he needs to take us back to the top where Celtic like to be…

  2. I’ve said before, why are supporters shocked at this, we are still being run by DD and the majority of our incompetent board from the past several seasons with their biscuit tin mentality. They haven’t took a blind bit of notice of supporters protests and grievances, nothing has changed.
