It was on Sunday when Celtic had to release a post on social media revealing Damien Duff would be splitting his time between Celtic and Ireland as a new set up comes into play.

Duff became a first-team coach last year when Brendan Rodgers left his post and Neil Lennon came in to steady the ship.

The former Chelsea man took up his position in the Celtic reserves but quickly became a first-team coach.

While Celtic have said Damien will be staying on as a first-team coach, the noises elsewhere suggest the Celtic coach is getting set for the Parkhead exit this summer.

According to RecordSport, the Irish set up are happy for Damien to stay in his Celtic position until August but after that will expect him to go full time with his country.

This move is reminiscent of Shaun Maloney becoming a Celtic coach who went part-time with the Belgian national team before taking the full-time plunge and leaving Celtic a few months later.

If that’s the case, Celtic have a big coaching slot to fill with the former winger building a good rapport with a lot of the squad, especially the younger lads.
