Celtic are tracking veteran Qarabag winger Abdellah Zoubir, according to a report from French outlet L’Equipe.
Despite holding a vast array of cash in the bank, the Hoops, along with Bundesliga side Augsburg and a team from France, are looking at Zoubir, who is available for free in the summer. He recently garnered attention for his brace and assist in Qarabag’s 4-2 win over Braga in the Europa League last week.
Such contributions brought his tally of goals and assists combined for the current season to 21. A respectable number, Zoubir is in his sixth year in Azerbaijan, but he will likely move onto pastures new this summer given the fact his contract at Qarabag expires in June.
With a wide variety of wingers to pick from, it remains to be seen if Brendan Rodgers needs any more. Zoubir, though, may offer the quality and experience players such as Yang don’t.
His acquisition wouldn’t particularly entice the fans, but it is early days yet. The summer window doesn’t open for another few months but, intriguingly, Celtic are being linked with a player this early on.
Why does someone release nonsence story, especially when a clear out of anyone above player level is increasingly likely.
