Former Celtic academy prospect and current Open Goal host, Simon Ferry, has urged Celtic to buy new left-back Diego Laxalt after an impressive start to life at Celtic.

As reported by the Daily Record, speaking on Go Radio, Ferry went as far as to call the Uruagian the ‘ready-made replacement’ to Kieran Tierney and urged his former side to push the boat out to sign him, no matter what the price.

“Elyounoussi has been helped by Laxalt coming in. What a signing he is by the way. He does the work of two guys.

“If I’m Celtic I’m doing sponsored walks and car boot sales to buy that guy because he looks like a ready-made replacement for Kieran Tierney. That’s how highly I rate him.

“It’s due to his competitiveness, his fitness and his quality on the ball. He’s really helped Elyounoussi massively.”

Laxalt has started life off in Glasgow incredibly so far and that continued last night. The 27-year old put in a man of the match performance in Lille and even broke a European record, in the last five years of the number of tackles made in a game.

Many fans, including Si, have begun to make the case of Neil Lennon signing the left-back up permanently. It would probably not be a cheap deal, considering AC Milan paid upwards of £16 million for him, but with the performances he has put in so far, he definitely looks like the real deal and potentially someone we should be trying to secure for the future.
