CELTIC have always taken pride in their surface. As a club who are well known for playing football the right way, having a top, sleek surface is of paramount importance.

Over the years, the pitch has been in immaculate condition come rain, hail or shine during this season. However, this term, it’s looking awful.

It was in the summer of 2018 when Celtic finished installing the hybrid pitch Brendan Rodgers had asked for at a cost of around £1.5m as reported by SunSport.

What’s happened to the pitch since is anyone guess.

Even when Rodgers was still with the club, the pitch had deteriorated and the manager at the time put it down to the pitch having a virus.

When we played Ross County last night, you could have been forgiven for thinking we’d picked it up from Fir Park and dropped in inside Celtic Park.

We’re a football playing side and the pitch plays a big part in the way we can play. With no winter break or respite before the end of the season, it’s only going to get worse.

Time for some reinvestment.
