Celtic are set to be in for a wait in their transfer windfall for Moussa Dembele, with Atletico Madrid choosing not to take up their option-to-buy on the Frenchman.

As reported by Glasgow Live, the striker will now return to his parent club, Lyon, in Ligue 1, which means the Hoops will have to wait a little longer to receive any fee from a potential sell-on fee.

Going on loan in the winter window, the 24-year old became a La Liga winner with Diego Simeone’s side but didn’t do enough to convince Atletico to take up their £30 million option-to-buy.

Since selling the French striker for around £20 million, there have been moves suggested elsewhere, including English Premier League sides after successful campaigns with Lyon.

However, he is yet to secure that move, but it could come this summer.

Whilst there hasn’t been confirmation that a sell-on clause was included in the deal to sell Dembele to Lyon, some reports have suggested that is the case, and at the same time, you would be surprised if Celtic hadn’t.

Only time will tell, but a summer move looks like a real possibility for Dembele this summer.
