CELTIC have been handed a major boost ahead of Athens visit on Wednesday night after their captain Petros Mantalos was ruled out of the first leg.

Mantalos, 26, has been out injured for a large part of Athens season but had fought back from injury to be in contention for the Celtic Park tie – however, the midfielder pulled up in training and will now miss the first leg tie at the very least.

This is great news for Celtic as the midfielder is a pivotal player and one of Athens best on his day.

The player himself will be disappointed after fighting back from a ruptured cruciate ligament injury.

Celtic seem to be having some good luck on the injury front with Olivier Ntcham expected to shake off an ankle injury.

It’s worth noting that one of Celtic’s best player’s is out of action at the moment with Dembele being sidelined.

Luckily, the club has Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths to call upon.
