CHRIS SUTTON has revealed the first time when he knew he wasn’t on talking terms with Neil Lennon, after the former Celtic manager blanked him.

Sutton stood by his former teammate for as long as he could in that horrific COVID season before calling for a change after Celtic’s cup defeat against Ross County. The former Celtic striker said that Lennon should’ve stepped down there and then, but instead, he damaged his reputation by staying as Celtic manager for months after the damaging defeat.

Neil Lennon took Sutton’s criticism to heart and refused to acknowledge his once teammate and pal after a match. On Darrel Currie’s podcast, The Currie Club, Chris opened up on the encounter, saying;

“We used to go out together as team-mates, as a lot of us did. That particular team was a band of brothers. I’ve spoken to Neil about this. Neil was a broadcaster as well and a really good broadcaster. I think he understands the game in that respect. He will be critical of managers and players.

“He wasn’t happy with me and he made that very clear. We walked down after the match and had to leave through a certain exit due to Covid and as we were walking down, Neil had turned the corner to walk up…I said, ‘alright Neil?’ and he said nothing…”

It’s extremely petty from Neil Lennon. Sutton’s job as a pundit is to voice his opinion. After his recent dismissal, Lennon will likely find himself in the same field. It’ll be interesting to see if the two pair up again.
