ANDY ROBERTSON has created history of his own by winning the Champions League with Liverpool but the Scottishman had another history maker on his mind when he lifted the trophy with the big ears.

Robertson and his team-mates milked the moment in Madrid as they put last season’s final behind them to beat Spurs comfortably.

Andy is Celtic daft and continues to support the club from down south. So as he was handed the trophy to lift high above his head, there was only one man who came to mind for the defender – the recently departed Billy McNeill.

The former Celtic youth player commented on both the passing of Billy and Stevie Chalmers and that becoming a Scottish player to lift the famous cup has gave him so much pride.

“It is very rare. That is what you start to realise.” Robertson told RecordSport.

Maybe more so this year than last year. A lot has been said up in Scotland because of Billy McNeill’s passing, the fact the person from these islands who lifted it for the first time was Scottish.

“It has been an emotional time for people up here to see him go, and Stevie Chalmers as well.

“My picture won’t go as big as his, but it was still a special moment to get my hands on the trophy he lifted.”

Fantastic words from the Liverpool star.

There’s every chance he could play for Celtic before his career is all said and done. His international team-mate Kieran Tierney would have to allow it though!
