Celtic Football Club has just confirmed that first-team coach Damien Duff has agreed to join the Republic of Ireland in a coaching role from the 1st August but he will continue in his role as first-team coach at Paradise.Â

Stephen Kenny only took over the reins as Ireland manager yesterday and he has wasted no time in recruiting his coaching staff. Kenny has surrounded himself with ex-Irish internationals Keith Andrews, Alan Kelly & now Damien Duff. Two players that played for Celtic in the past, Mick McCarthy and Robbie Keane vacated their posts yesterday. The new Ireland manager has some experience of Scottish football after his time at Dunfermline.
Damien Duff has found himself in a fortunate position. He came to Celtic only recently and started down at reserve level. He was only in the job a wet day when Brendan Rodgers left the club unexpectedly and Duff and John Kennedy got bumped up to first-team duties to assist Neil Lennon.
A lot of players have praised Damien Duff and their dealings with him, Jeremie Frimpong been one of the most recent. This added coaching role looks like a no brainer for both Duff and Celtic.
