We now have dates for next season’s Bet Fred Cup and unlike the last few years, this will finish in the second half of the season, due to fixture timings and constraints.

The Cup competition will kick off just over a month after the SPFL kicks off on October 6. The day after the transfer window closes.

The quarter-finals will happen a week before Christmas – last year the final was played at the start of December.

A semi-final in January followed by the final on the very last day of February.

Celtic are looking to win the cup for the fifth time in a row BUT it cannot be considered the priority this season. The fixture list is going to be hectic and Neil Lennon must be pragmatic when it comes to this competition.

European competition, the league and the small matter of finishing last season’s Scdottish Cup is going to keep Celtic occupied.

Here are the full dates, sent to us by the SPFL.

Start date:

October 2020: Tuesday 6th

Quarter-Final

December 2020: Tuesday 15th, Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th

Semi-Final

January 2021: Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th

Final
February 2021: Sunday 28th

It would be a great competition to bring on some of the fringe players. If we top out of the competition to focus on other things as a result, most Celtic fans wouldn’t feel too aggrieved given what’s at stake elsewhere.
