RYAN CHRISTIE can’t hide his excitement as he starts to make the breakthrough at Celtic.

At today’s press conference the player was grinning from ear to ear about the prospect of taking on German high flyers Leipzig tomorrow in front of a packed Celtic Park.

He isn’t taking anything for granted, it was only a month ago the player was written off and expected to leave the club in January.

Now, after three top performances on the bounce, the midfielder is keen to keep his run going and prolong his stay with the Scottish Champions.

With that in mind, Christie gave a brief update on negotiations and it’s looking very good.

“I love being a Celtic player and hopefully I can extend my stay here.

“It’s looking positive and hopefully we can come to an agreement quite soon.”

Christie was signed under Ronny Deila but then loaned back to Inverness at the time. When he got to Celtic Park it was Brendan Rodgers who was in charge.

Rodgers put Christie on a strict bulking up programme to increase his potential and 18-months as a first team star at Aberdeen have all prepared him to break through into this Celtic side.
