DAVIE PROVAN has used his column to attack the Celtic Board and Celtic in general for letting the Ibrox club keep within touching distance of them during the first half of the season.
Celtic currently sit top, have won the first trophy of the season and have European football beyond Christmas. However, after listing all those accolades – Provan believes it’s ‘not good enough’.
Of course, Celtic’s away performances have not been up to scratch, but we again have someone who wants to stick the boot into the club when we might not be flying. Make no mistake about it, Celtic are still in pole position.
Provan put it down to mismanagement by the club who sit on their piles of cash.
“Forget the spin, Rodgers’ side is in sharp decline. Put that down to the club’s mismanagement of the transfer window last summer.
“With bundles of cash available Rodgers should have beefed up a squad that was in need of an overhaul.”
Celtic are currently looking to strengthen and kick on in the second part of the season. Fans get that we need to improve, but the hyperbole and panic from some in the media has been exhausting to this point.
Usually, when there is this much chat, Celtic can go out and do their talking on the pitch, but with 13 days before Celtic’s next game, it’s only going to get worse.
Forget the former player with a chip on his shoulder spin that is normally used here , Provan is right , and every single one of us knows it , the board have been complacent.

He’s correct, the board are cheating the fans, by not re-investing in the team, it is scandalous that they have sat back and allowed a 6 year old football club to catch up and surpass us.

Every time a former player says anything against the club you act as if its an act of treason.most of it is true.but then again the truth hurts.most of them want whats best for club.i actually agree with most stuff provan puts out bout us.the board are a complete joke.lawwell is a wanker.

It’s the press / media that are trying to make us fans feel like our team is just about funked. Well , it’s not and their mind game only works when we get anxious and let it be heard, it carries through to the players feet. It’s up to us to stay positive and fight back and use that defiant energy against them. We might feel pressure on us to win the league now. But it’s our own pressure to hold onto – keep it close and use it to drive on to 8 in a row !
