FORMER Celtic goal machine Gary Hooper looks like he could be on the verge of signing for Iranian side Esteghal after the player was plastered over all the papers in Iran.
The Englishman has been without a club since leaving Sheffield Wednesday this summer and apart from a few training sessions here and there, the frontman has been taking it easy – even playing golf with Scott Brown.
Hooper, 31, is certainly not at retirement age but he could making a big mistake heading over to Iran to play his football. There must be decent money on offer which seen Anthony Stokes make a similar move last year. His former strike partner got off to a great start in Iran but it all turned sour with his club threatening to sue him for a now show.
If the former Celtic talisman does sign up with Esteghlal – it will be the first move of his career outside the UK.
Former Celtic, Norwich and Sheffield Wednesday striker, Gary Hooper, is on the front page of a couple of Iranian newspapers. Esteghlal are looking to bring him in to bolster their strike force. Not sure they will be able to, but it seems the interest is genuine. #SWFC #NFC pic.twitter.com/Z9lpuP4iI2
