KRIS COMMONS believes the Celtic board need to act quickly to lay the groundwork for next season so the bhoys can hit the ground running this summer.

Celtic Football Club and Neil Lennon parted ways with each other two weeks ago, however, we’ve seen little in the way of any real news on the manager front.

All we have to go on is speculation, hearsay and the irritant of betting odds.

Former hoops midfielder, Kris Commons, thinks it’s time to get this new era underway:

“It’s nearly a fortnight since Neil Lennon left Celtic. Yet we still don’t know who the next permanent manager might be. The silence from the boardroom is deafening.” Commons wrote in the print edition of the Daily Mail.

“Fans haven’t heard a peep from Dermot Desmond about how the club gets out of this mess. But one thing’s for sure. We can now say with some certainty that the next manager definitely won’t be John Kennedy.

“The rebuild has to start now. In fact, it should already be underway. The longer Celtic sit twiddling their thumbs, the more they risk being behind the eight-ball by the time next season comes around”

There could be things at play where Celtic are not in a position to let us know who the next manager will be. The person could currently be in a job, for example.

While there might be mitigating circumstances behind the slow response to our managerial appointment, the Celtic board will simply not be allowed to get away with saying nothing new before renewal time comes around.

The season ticket renewals is already a hard sell considering we know what the Pass delivers and we know there’s a good chance it will be used for some if not all of next season.

If Celtic can capture the imagination of the support with the appointments and deals they make over the next three months then the fans will sign up to it.
