Former Ibrox man Stevie Naismith has put Kris Boyd in a bracket with Henrik Larsson for his goalscoring exploits. The lazy target man who is the league’s top scorer (because he played in the league longer than any other prolific striker) has finally hung up his boots and the flimsy comparisons are being made again between Boyd and Henrik.
As a footballer, as a talent, as someone who was World class – Kris Boyd cannot touch Henrik Larsson, it’s as simple as that.
Naismith thinks Boyd should be ‘up there’ in the conversation with some of the top names but in reality, he was a good goal scorer who couldn’t really excel anywhere else.
He failed at Middlesborough and Portland Timbers not to mention he only has one goal against Celtic to his name. Henrik Larsson left Celtic and won the Champions League after seven trophy-laden years.
Don’t tell that to Naismith though!
“All the way through his career, people have spoken about him not doing this or that but every goal he has scored in Scotland has been the equivalent to every other top goalscorer.” the Hearts man told RecordSport.
“Your Larssons and McCoists. Every other top striker. His tally stacks up just as big as theirs does.
“Just because he doesn’t have the flair of a player like Larsson, people have an opinion on it but I said for years that if you had Boydy in your team, you always had a chance to score. I always felt
like that.
“Boydy’s record speaks for itself and he’ll get more credit the longer it gets after he retires.”
If you look at his career in a vacuum in the Scottish league then yes, Boyd has his place but comparing him to one of the best to ever play the game – I don’t think so.
Naismouth is a wee corner boy and a sneaky coward. Like all old huns, he talks a load of sh1te. King Henrik was a star at Celtis, stuffed sevco on a regular basis, went on to play for Barca, Man u, and was a true gent. Boyd, was a fat slug who couldn’t get a game for ragers when Walter was there.
Scum like naismouth will always be remembered for the coward he is.
