FRANK MCAVENNIE has said that Chris Jullien’s “finished at Celtic” as he believes that the manager isn’t his biggest fan.

The French defender has yet to start a game under Ange Postecoglou, only appearing once from the bench. The Celtic manager has chosen to stick with the strong defensive partnership of Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers, who have the best defensive partnership in the league.

He was an expensive signing, but his injury has ended his Celtic career it seems, spending fourteen months out was never going to be easy to come back from.

The former Celtic striker told Football Insider;

“It’s clear that Ange doesn’t like him.

“There were so many games to play last season and he never got a look in, that tells me he’s pretty much finished at Celtic.

“[Cameron] Carter-Vickers and [Carl] Starfelt played every game. I think one of them needs a big, powerful defender to partner them at the back and you would think Jullien fits that mould.

“But he hasn’t played and it doesn’t sound like he’s injured again so Ange clearly doesn’t like him as a player.

“I expect he will leave this summer because Ange won’t keep anyone who isn’t contributing.”

It’s hard to disagree with Macca here. Celtic have been linked to numerous defenders already and are keen to tie down Carter-Vickers.

It’s becoming obvious that Jullien isn’t in the manager’s plans. There are clubs in his homeland that are interested in the defender, but no official contact has been made yet.

  1. Ange can pretty much do what he likes but the treatment of Jullien is pretty poor IMO.
    I get that Starfelt/CCV were a good partnership as the season progressed but i refuse to accept that a player as limited as Welsh is preferred on the bench to big Chris. Personally i would have Jullien partnering CCV but Ange obviously doesnt rate him
