FRASER FORSTER knows what it’s like to languish in Southampton’s reserves and can empathise with Mohamed Elyounoussi.

Both players surplus to requirements at the Premier League club chose to actively do something about it and make a move north of the border. For Forster, it was easy, he knew the club and the fanbase. For Moi, it was a step into the unknown, leaving behind the Premier League to come to Scotland will have many people around the player raising some eye brows.

Two months into his Celtic loan deal and it’s clear he made the correct choice. Mohamed is starting to excel and was one of the best players on the park at Hampden as Celtic booked their place in the League Cup Final.

Moi now looks like an instant starter under Neil Lennon and Mikey Johnston will have his work cut out getting back in the side as a result.

Talking about the Norwegian, his fellow Southampton loanee Fraser Forster was delighted to see Moi flying at Celtic.

“I’m delighted for Moi. He had a tough year last year as well, it is amazing what a bit of love and
confidence can do for you.” he told RecordSport.

“Ever since he scored that
first goal he has not looked back. He keeps chipping in and contributing and that’s just fantastic for us.

“It is a positive, multiplying effect. Last year, Moi did not really play much football at all. He has come here and you need that run of games in the team, it’s hard to come in and be expected to do it from day one.

“But he has come in, had a few 90 minutes under his belt and scored and had assists. His
confidence can only grow and grow if he is doing that. I am absolutely delighted for him.”

“I know more than anyone how hard it was for him last year and he just looks like a completely different player.”
