CELTIC came through a very tricky tie against the Dons this afternoon.

Goals from Kris Commons and James Forrest gave the Parkhead side the the three points.

It was a very even game in the first half. Not many chances for either side.

Joe Ledley came close to opening the scoring after a clever touch wrong footed the Aberdeen defence but the shot was saved by Jamie Langfield.

It looked like the teams would go in at half time all square but on the 44th minute Samaras was unleashed through the midddle. Running relentlessly towards goal he shrugged oFf Russell Anderson but was stopped in his tracks by goalkeeper Jamie Langfield who brought the big Greek man down. The referee pointed to the spot and sent the Aberdeen goalie packing. Kris Commons stepped up to take the penalty against substitute keeper Nicky Weaver and converted.

In the second half Aberdeen showed guts trying to get back into the game with 10 men. Nial McGinn had a fantastic opportunity to draw level with a close range header but luckily he hit it straight at Fraser Forster.

As the game wore on the cards were coming out for both teams as the tackles started to fly.

James Forrest who came on for the last 10 minutes put the game to bed with 3 minutes to go, his great run was rewarded when his shot was deflected over Nicky Weaver into the Aberdeen net.

A full house at Pittodre was refreshing and both sets of fans done well to get behind their sides.

Also good runs out for Mouyokolo as well as Van Djik who came on with 10 minutes to go.
