STEVEN GERRARD and his men saved Celtic and UEFA a potential headache for February by throwing away their Europa League top spot.

Group winners get to play their away tie first and if both had won their group then there would’ve had to be a change-up or a move of fixtures to facilitate both clubs in the competition at home at the same time.

With the Ibrox club losing a last-minute equaliser it seen them drop down to second and took Porto out of the pool of teams they could face come 2020.

Celtic topped their group at a canter but Steven Gerrard’s men had to take it to the last day and just squeezed into the last 32 – fair play to them.

Celtic will be hoping for a kind draw and they could get one this time finishing top of the shop. The draw takes place this Monday at UEFA headquarters. Bring it on.
