It took a while to get his first Celtic start but Giakoumakis made sure it counted. The striker hit the back of the net against St Johnstone and set Celtic on their way to victory.

The Greek frontman has had his setbacks since joining the club. Firstly, he had to get fit and do a mini pre-season after joining the club. When he was finally ready to go and about to get game time against Raith Rovers – the striker pulled up at the side of the pitch.

It surprised many to see Gorgios in the starting XI against St Johnstone – not because we didn’t want to see him play – simply because it dislodged Kyogo as the focal point of our attack.

The Greek took his goal very well and could be the predatory striker we thought Albion Ajeti was going to be.

You don’t score a truck load of goals in the Dutch top flight if you don’t have something about you.

Taking to social media on Sunday – the new Celtic star revealed he missed that feeling of hitting the back of the net.

Hopefully there’s more moments like this to come!

I like this clarity, where Larry / Chris is speaking for all Celtic supporters.

A lovely touch here, if we only could get him to write a few pieces in the third person we could be onto something really groundbreaking here.
