Former Celtic midfielder Joe Ledley has tipped ex Hoops boss Neil Lennon as a possible option for the management role of English Championship side Cardiff City.

After leaving Celtic last February, Lennon has been out of work after a disastrous 2020/21 campaign, which saw the club finish 25 points off Rangers in the league.

Since then, the Northern Irishman has mainly been working in the media, discussing either English Premiership games or the occasional Celtic European fixture.

Yesterday, another familiar name to Celtic fans – Mick McCarthy, who spent time with the club as a player between 1987-1989 was sacked as the manager of Cardiff City after a poor start to the season.

Speaking to Wales Online, a man who has played for both Celtic and the Welsh side is Joe Ledley, and he tipped his former manager to be a possible candidate for the job.

“The person who comes in has to realise there will be no money, and it will be a difficult task to turn it around.

“A lot of players are leaving at the end of the season as they are out of contract. I heard rumours Chris Wilder was at the last game, so there’s links there.

“Neil Lennon is still out there who I worked with at Celtic. He would definitely be interested, I know.”

In recent weeks, we have seen some articles in the press about Lennon’s time as manager the second time around, and it hasn’t done much to help his reputation after last campaign.

Now, it is probably best for him to get another job, and if the Cardiff City job is up for grabs, he might fancy his hand at that.

At this moment in time, Celtic fans would probably prefer that he picked up a role instead of hearing even more about last season or scrutinising Ange Postecoglou’s side after a European game.
