It was a big mystery on Sunday when one of our most expensive summer signings didn’t even make the bench for the Glasgow Derby.

Albian Ajeti was completely out of the squad leaving many wondering if he was injured or the interim boss simply left the striker out of the side.

It appears to be the latter, with John Kennedy explaining the derby snub but insisted to RecordSport there was no drama.

“We had so many fit players and everyone wanted to be involved. Three strikers on the bench for the game wasn’t quite right.

“I spoke to Albian and addressed it so there’s no drama. Every game is different. We needed a balance on the bench but it’s fine.”

Ajeti has been sporadically in the team throughout the season but has never looked fully fit.

His signing from West ham at the start of the year looked to have been a good piece of business after he scored 5 goals in 6 appearances but nothing much to shout about after that.

Could he still have a say at Celtic next season under a new manager? Neil Lennon didn’t want to put his faith in the Swiss striker and it looks like John Kennedy really doesn’t want to. Klimala and Griffiths both preferred to Ajeti on Sunday.
