Ross County has taken a U-turn on their decision to decrease travelling supporters for their upcoming Premier Sports Cup clash.

Celtic travel to the highlands on the 31st of August to take on the side they’ve already defeated 3-1 this month.

Celtic has been given two full stands for the match for their fans. County says they’ve taken this decision because of the failure of the home support to turnout last weekend.

A Ross County statement read;

“Ahead of our Premier Sports Cup last 16 tie with Celtic on 31 August, we would like to share the following information:

“For this match, tickets for Ross County supporters will be available in the West & Jailend stands, with the entirety of the North and East Stands being allocated to away fans.

“With a low uptake on home section match tickets for our fixture with Celtic last weekend, we have taken the decision to trial this allocation for the upcoming cup match. There were significant gaps across the home sections and having seen the success of other Premiership clubs in operating this kind of allocation we are keen to maximise the capacity of the stadium for this game.

“As this is a Premier Sports Cup match, season tickets are not valid, however we will run a priority sales period for season ticket holders to secure tickets for the game prior to tickets going on general sale (see information below).

“We have had significant dialogue with the relevant safety authorities who have given us their support in trailing this format for the match on the 31August- that support being on the back of a successful matchday operation last Saturday against Celtic.”

It’s a big boost for the Celtic fans that go to the away games. Supporters will take their seats in the North and East stands of Dingwall. Their noise will help encourage the team, visiting a really tough place that has thrown up some challenges in the past.

Another pleasing aspect is that tickets for adults will be sold for £20. It’s something all fans in Scotland can unite with; twenty’s plenty. It would be good to see other clubs, including Celtic, follow suit.

  1. At last someone has seen the light? Did the directors of Ross Co think reducing the Celtic fans and their chorus would weaken the team? Someone wants a kick up the backside for that decision. What a shower of idiots. Get real, the only way to beat another team is to “play football” and keep the dirty players in the stands.

  2. How dare Ross County try to look to maximise home advantage?
    Don’t they realise they should be giving their whole stadium to Celtic fans?
    Honestly, the sense of entitlement from some is incredible.
