The 23-year-old Swedish international, who joined Celtic last summer from Elfsborg for a reported fee of £3 million, has struggled to secure a regular starting position in the team.

Despite signing a five-year contract with Celtic in August, Lagerbielke’s tenure at the club appears to be short-lived.

Lagerbielke has found himself behind players like Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales, and with the return of Maik Nawrocki from injury, his first-team chances have further diminished. Stephen Welsh’s presence and Nat Phillips’s recent short-term loan spell from Liverpool have also contributed to Lagerbielke’s limited game time.

Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph reports that Lecce, currently just above the relegation zone in Serie A, is finalising a deal to bring Lagerbielke to Italy. The proposed move is expected to be a loan, with Lecce having the option to make the transfer permanent in the summer. Additionally, Celtic is reportedly set to contribute to part of Lagerbielke’s wages during his loan spell.

During his stint with Celtic, Lagerbielke has made six appearances in the Scottish Premiership and featured twice in the Champions League, including scoring the decisive goal against Feyenoord in the final group game.

  1. With the unexpected emergence of scales as a player for ourselves, along with the need for Welsh with the homegrown rule in play, and potentially lawal upon his return from his loan period.
Then you fail to see were the largerman can fit into our squad now, or even potentially next season either?
Still contributed even in his very short stay with ourselves and wish him well upon the future of his career, even if its not with ourselves
