Gustaf Lagerbielke burst back onto the Celtic scene on Wednesday night scoring a late Champions League winner.

The Swede has been in the stands for a lot of football this season — Rodgers preferring other options in the starting XI and on the bench.

However, with CCV ruled out of the Feyenoord game this week, Gustaf found himself back on the bench and Stephen Welsh started alongside Liam Scales.

With 20 minutes left on the clock, the Swede finally got some first team action since early in the season and he didn’t pass up the opportunity.

After watching Celtic concede in the 82nd minute, all eyes were on who would grab a winner, would it be the home side or would Feyenoord compound Celtic’s frustrating Champions League campaign.

Gustaf would have the final say thanks to Matt O’Riley who expertly picked out the defender at the back post for one of the easiest goals he’s likely to score.

Celtic Park came unglued and the bhoys banished their horrible Champions League home record that has been dogging the club for a decade.

Gustaf was delighted to get back on the field and make an impact. His Instagram post that was posted very late into the night shows a clearly still buzzing Lagerbielke reliving the moment.

We wonder if this will have any sort of impact on Gustaf’s place in the squad. While the goal was brilliant, we need him to defend first and foremost. Does Rodgers see that in him at the moment?
