THE return of Hatate to the Celtic team has been highly anticipated by fans.

The midfielder has been out injured for six weeks and his return to the team could be a major boost to the team’s attack, with many believing the creative spark has been missing with from the team during his absence. However, there are some things to consider before his return, and when that’ll come.

The Glasgow Derby is a very high-paced match, it’s unclear how much match fitness he has and how quickly he can adjust to the intensity of the game. He might be slightly off the boil, especially after spending over a month in the stands.

Hatate has been a regular starter for Celtic since joining the team in the January of 2022 and has been a star player in the midfield, adding a great balance between CalMac and O’Riley, linking the play up well.

He’s a creative playmaker who can control the tempo of a match and create chances for his teammates. His presence in the midfield could add some muchneeded creativity and energy to Celtic’s attack.

When Hatate performs, the result is normally a win, but can Ange Postecoglou afford to throw in at the weekend, and risk further injury, with crunching challenges a certainty, or gamble that he’ll be match ready?

It’s a tricky one, and although I don’t believe that Postecoglou has been bluffing this week, I wouldn’t have him in from the start, but would definitely utilise him from the bench, especially if the team is lacking his quality.

If I was the manager, I’d stick with Iwata, O’Riley and McGregor, knowing that I can turn to my bench if need be.
