Former Celtic defender and Neil Lennon teammate, Gary Caldwell is the latest in a line of former Celts to come out and question what’s going on at the club.

Caldwell concedes Neil Lennon lives and dies by results and. they haven’t been good enough, but he also wants to peel the onion and discover what’s gone on behind the scenes.

The former Scottish international believes there has been such a fixation on ten in a row, the bigger picture hs not been grasped by the club.

Caldwell questions recruitment and how that has stopped Celtic in their tracks over the piece.

“Neil’s under a lot of pressure, as any manager is if you’re not winning football matches. He understands, at Celtic more than anywhere, you have to win games.” Caldwell told SunSport.

“But I think it runs a little bit deeper than Neil Lennon. I think what the club has to do is look deeper. Has recruitment been right? Is the style of play right?

“Is everyone behind the scenes pulling in the same direction? To me there’s been an obsession with ten-in-a-row that has forced Celtic as a club to forget the processes that allow them to win leagues and cups and that’s what’s cost them this season.

“I think as a club you have to look at the bigger picture and decide if the manager is aligning to what the club’s values and beliefs are, where the club is going.

“If Celtic believe Neil Lennon is that man then they’ll continue to go with him. If they don’t then that’s why it should change. I don’t think you should change the manager purely based on results on the pitch.

“There are points to play for but the way they’re playing and their results mean their confidence levels are taking a big impact.

“Rangers are going from strength to strength and it’s a long way back. Celtic just have to win the next game but talking about league titles, it’s a long way from them at this moment in time.”

Celtic are out of the League Cup and have no realistic chance of winning the league, with the Scottish Cup postponed and not much else to play for, our season is dead in the water already.

It’s all about what Celtic do next. The fans need to be galvanised along with the club itself, you do that buy making big changes and start a new project.

Neil Lennon’s time is up, yet we’re still to hear from the club. Surely they wouldn’t keep him on for much longer.
