Contrary to the views of many, Strachan believes that the absence of away fans in the derby matches could positively impact the atmosphere.

The latest clash between Rangers and Celtic at Celtic Park will see only home supporters in attendance, continuing the trend of lockouts due to disagreements over ticket allocations and safety concerns.

Rangers have expressed their dissatisfaction with this arrangement, taking their case to the SPFL, while Celtic stands by their decision, hoping to welcome away fans in future matches.

Celtic are keen to welcome away fans to Parkhead if they return to their original numbers, something that Rangers aren’t willing to agree to at the moment.

Strachan, speaking to Old Firm Odds [via RecordSport], commented on the atmosphere of these derby games, describing them as “noisy, aggressive, and nasty.” He acknowledged the exhilarating yet sometimes disheartening nature of the fixture, especially concerning the songs and chants from the fans.

“It is going to be noisy, aggressive and nasty. Anyone who hasn’t been already, you need to go and see it. It is exhilarating at times but sad at times when you listen to the songs. There are no away supporters this time, which some people think is a bad thing but I actually think it is a positive. We don’t need to give a platform sometimes for the people and we need that nonsense out of the game.”
