Chris Sutton is probably the one Englishman who calls the Scottish game right from time to time. Mainly because he has an interest and follows all the games in Scotland.

You get a sense with the rest of the English pundits that they have a quick Google search before they form an opinion. If you spent five minutes questioning them about the Celtic team they’d probably be found out quick enough. That is why you can take their predictions on Celtic’s fortunes tonight with a pinch of salt.

Michael Owen has backed Celtic to continue a sequence against Italian opposition tonight with a 1-1 draw.

The pundit told the Daily Express:

“Celtic are without a win in their last nine games against Serie A opposition and the Bhoys may have to settle for a draw against a Lazio side who go into the game one point behind the hosts in the Group E table. Lazio’s last couple of league games have finished in scoring draws (3-3 H Atalanta & 2-2 at Bologna) and I believe that sequence will continue at Parkhead.”

Lazio were favourites to top the group before the competition kicked off but a win for Celtic tonight puts them in the driving seat before the reverse fixture next week in Rome. Intreentisnly Owen backed his old team-mate Steven Gerrard to fall short with another away loss to Porto.
