Celtic are just a day away from one of the most important matches of their season. A trip to Ibrox is lined up on Sunday for Postecoglou’s side. The manager has stated that his side will be playing for a win, not a draw.

The Australian boss is consistent in his messaging. He is always looking for a win, no matter the importance of the match or the quality of opposition Celtic are facing.

Postecoglou knows the importance of this match, if Celtic win on Sunday it puts his side in a favourable position for the League title.

As we head into Sunday, many fans will be satisfied with a draw. After all, it will keep Celtic in top place, with The Rangers three points behind. However, Postecoglou has said his team will not play for the point as they look to stretch their lead at the top.

Quoted by Football Scotland, Postecoglou explained;

“If someone said to me there’s a system out there that would guarantee you 150 percent that you would get a draw, I wouldn’t take it,” he said.

“I reckon others would, but if I took it I’d be thinking, ‘Maybe we could have won’.

“I just don’t believe in that approach. We always have to fall back on why we are in the position we are at the moment.

“The reason for that is that we believe in something beyond just trying to win a game of football. And that is playing our way.

“We have to win it too. There are still seven games to go; games of real consequence.

We are getting to a point in the season when the league is so tight and if we start thinking we’ve got an edge then we could stumble.

“It’s a game they want to win but we want to win as well because if we do, it puts us in a strong position”

In an ideal world, Celtic will leave Govan with a six-point advantage at the top.

The Ibrox side had a bad day at the office in February and will be hoping to right the wrongs on Sunday. Hopefully, Postecoglou’s side will be no match for Van Bronkhorst’s when the sides clash at the noon kick off.
