Jon Brady thinks Celtic should be looking at young midfielder Marc Leonard, who is just off the back of a two-year loan at his Northampton Town side.

With the Cobblers, Leonard had a hugely successful spell, making three shy of 100 appearances in two years.

He was key in their promotion to League One last season and in the current campaign, the 22-year-old has helped them to an impressive 14th-place finish in England’s third tier.

Glasgow-born and formerly of Hearts and Rangers’ academies, Leonard moved to Premier League outfit Brighton in 2018.

He has made strides South of the border and Brady, who has just managed him for two years, thinks the Hoops should be considering a move for the Scotland youth international.

He said: [RecordSport] “I feel for the here and now and for the longer term I would say Marc Leonard is one that both Rangers and Celtic should be looking at.

“I know both teams have a lot of talent in the midfield but Marc is an outstanding young Scottish player.

“I believe he can go all the way to the top and if Rangers or Celtic were to come in for him then I feel he has the talent to flourish for either side.”

While the Celtic midfield is not short of options at the minute, with growing interest in Matt O’Riley and Paulo Bernardo’s loan shortly due to come to an end, reinforcements may be required in the summer.

Coventry man Callum O’Hare has been linked with a move to Parkhead on a free transfer but with Premier League teams also in the mix, a deal could be tough to complete.

Leonard may be an attractive option, but apart from his manager’s suggestion, nothing concrete in terms of a move has emerged.
