BBC pundit Michael Stewart has confidently predicted that Celtic will secure the Scottish Premiership title, despite their recent draw against Motherwell.

Speaking on Sportscene on Sunday, Stewart, a former Hearts and Hibs midfielder, offered his insights following Rangers’ missed opportunity to close the gap on Celtic after their draw at Pittodrie.

Stewart’s comments came in the wake of a weekend that saw both Glasgow sides drop points in crucial games. However, he believes that Celtic’s lead is secure under Brendan Rodgers’ stewardship. “That was a big game today that Rangers have dropped points in,” Stewart said, highlighting the significance of Rangers’ inability to capitalise on Celtic’s slip-up.

“I don’t see Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side dropping enough points for Rangers to go immaculately throughout the season to get themselves into the fight for it,” he continued.

This sentiment underscores Stewart’s belief in Celtic’s resilience and consistency under Rodgers, which he views as a decisive factor in the title race.

Stewart also acknowledged the improvements Rangers have made under Philippe Clement but expressed doubts about their ability to mount a serious challenge for the title. “I think Celtic will win the title. Certainly, under Philippe Clement, Rangers have improved, but I don’t see it enough for them to go and challenge for the title,” Stewart opined.

He further added, “Even if they had won that, I still think Celtic will have enough.” This statement reinforces his conviction that Celtic has the depth, quality, and leadership to maintain their lead and ultimately secure the championship.

Nobody at Celtic will be confidently predicting any title win prematurely. The bhoys are inconsistent at the moment and missing key players as they navigate a tough Christmas schedule. They will have to be better in the coming weeks to make sure they don’t give their rivals another opportunity to cut the gap.

As the SPFL season progresses, Stewart’s predictions will be put to the test. Celtic fans will hope his confidence in their team is well-placed, while Rangers will undoubtedly be looking to prove him wrong and reignite their title aspirations.
