Celtic’s home form this season has been carrying them through their very bad away spell which saw them drop 18/36 points on their travels this term.

The clubs win against Hibernian on Wednesday night was their 13th SPFL home game of the season and it was the bhoys 13th win! What a record.

Compare and contrast last seasons stats at this point to where stand today on the home front.

17/18

Games:13
Wins:9
Draws:4
Goals:30
Conceded: 8
Points: 31

18/19

Games: 13
Wins: 13
Goals: 37
Conceded: 4
Points: 39

Much was made of Celtic’s home form in the league last season but we did only draw four games, which doesn’t sound so bad. Such is the demand of Celtic fans at home, they always expect a win on their turf regardless of the opposition.

Here is Celtic’s away form after the same amount of games this season as compared to last.

17/18

Games: 12
Won: 9
Drawn: 2
Lost: 1
Goals: 24
Conceded: 9
Points: 29

18/19

Games: 12
Won: 5
Drawn: 3
Lost: 4
Goals: 22
Conceded: 10
Points: 18

So this season we’ve gained eight points more at home than we did at this point last term but have dropped eleven points more away from home.

It was vital Celtic hammered home their advantage at home after the winter break with a good run of games played at Celtic Park and that’s exactly what they’ve done.

The bhoys and their Glasgow rivals were on the same amount of points going into the winter break with Celtic having a game in hand. Since the turn of the year, Celtic have made themselves a nice six-point gap and have another home game before they hit the road on the SPFL.

The remaining away games will have a big say in what transpires in the coming months. Celtic will play Hearts at Tynecastle at the end of February and that’s when they need to lay down a marker.
