JAMES FORREST is perhaps the most undervalued Celtic player in the last ten years. Kicking majorly into gear under Brendan Rodgers but the midfielder has always had an eye for goal.

Signed for Celtic at the age of just 13 and coming through the ranks to become an invaluable member of the first team squad is a great story.

There was delight all around yesterday as Forrest put pen to paper on a new deal which will keep him at the club until 2023. The winger capped it off with the decisive second goal in Celtic’s win over St Mirren on Wednesday which was great to see.

One thing we’ve been moaning about for a while (we love a good moan) is the fact Jamesy hasn’t had his own chant from the terrace. Given his status at Celtic and his loyalty to the club it was about time he got one and well the Green Brigade got their finger out and repackaged an old classic.

Bestowing the ten in a row song on a true Celt hoping he will be one of the vital cogs in bringing the ten to Celtic.

Asked if he had heard the Celtic fans on the night, James raised a smile and admitted he had.

“I heard it a few times tonight, aye.” Forrest told CelticTV.

“That was really good, it’s good to hear. I must be doing something right, I just want to keep repaying them”

He is still an unassuming and humble guy as he bangs in goals for Celtic and racks up medals. Even in his post-match press conference there’s an air of nervousness about him – he’s a guy who clearly loves Celtic and just playing football.
