Former Celtic star Jeremie Frimpong will once again be returning to Glasgow as his Bayer Leverkusen side are set to take on Rangers during the World Cup break.

The 21-year old has been attracting attention during the past few months as he has been one of the standout players for Leverkusen this season who thumped Union Berlin 5-0 at the weekend.

Clubs such as English Premier League side Manchester United are said to be interested in the fullback with the Hoops expected to benefit from any sort of sale as there is supposedly a sell-on fee included.

The Bundesliga side pipped Atletico Madrid to third place in their Champions League group and will face AS Monaco in the knockout round of the Europa League in February but the Dutchman could be elsewhere by then.

Frimpong enjoyed a short spell at Celtic before departing for Bundesliga in January 2021. He played a key role in helping the Hoops towards their ninth title and is continuing to develop into a top player in one of Europe’s best leagues.

It will be the second time the former Manchester City starlet returns to Glasgow having returned last year to take on his former side in the Europa League at Celtic Park.
